Lessons 1-3 Descriptions

Lesson 1: Fundamental Skills

Are you ready to kayak more, want to go on a kayak vacation, or perhaps ready to purchase your own kayak? Our 3-hour Kayaking Fundamentals lesson demystifies the parts of the kayak, personal floatation device, and paddle and how to properly adjust and wear everything. You'll learn how to carry, launch, land, and the lesson includes something akin to a tai chi lesson of proper paddling technique using your core instead of your arms and shoulders, and the four strokes that turn, propel, and stop the kayak.
